AeroyantraDrone Mapping Lab

Check drone images, overlap & GCPs before you process

Drop the photos from a mapping flight, plus GCPs and a site boundary if you have them. You get a readiness verdict and every problem explained, with how to fix it.

Drop images or a whole folder here
JPG · TIFF · DNG straight from the SD card, any drone with EXIF

Runs entirely in your browser. No upload, no account, no limits. Validation only; processing happens in Aeroyantra Cloud.

What it checks

Images & EXIF

Every photo read in the browser: GPS fix, camera and focal length, RTK/PPK fix type and accuracy, per-image GSD, ISO and shutter speed, and the motion blur that shutter speed causes at your ground speed. Missing or duplicate frames are flagged against the capture sequence.

Flight quality

Forward overlap along each line and side overlap between lines, worked out from the real photo positions rather than the plan. Speed against photo interval, an overlap-count coverage map that shows where only two images see the ground, and sun elevation for the shadow and hotspot risk at your capture time.

Ground control & CRS

The coordinate system of a GCP file is detected from the numbers themselves, so a wrong UTM zone, a swapped northing and easting, or feet where metres were expected is caught before it reaches photogrammetry. Spacing, distribution across the block, how many images see each point, and whether heights are ellipsoidal or orthometric.

Area of interest

Load a KML, KMZ or GeoJSON boundary or draw one on the map, and see geodesic area, holes, and how far the imagery actually extends past the edge — the margin that decides whether the orthomosaic is usable right up to the boundary.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop the flight

Images, a GCP file and a site boundary, in any order. Nothing is uploaded: the files are read in this tab.

  2. 2

    Read the verdict

Each suite scores out of 100 and lists what failed, where on the map it failed, and what it means for processing.

  3. 3

    Fix it or fly again

Every finding says how to fix it — a shorter photo interval, tighter line spacing, a corrected GCP zone — before you spend hours processing.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. EXIF parsing, overlap, GCP and AOI checks all run in this browser tab. Nothing leaves your computer, there is no file size limit, and the lab keeps working if you disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.

Which drones does it read?

Any camera that writes EXIF, which is every mapping drone in normal use. DJI and senseFly XMP fields are parsed as well, which is where RTK fix type, accuracy estimates and relative altitude live.

Do I need ground control points?

No — images alone give you overlap, GSD, blur and coverage. Add a GCP file and you also get coordinate-system detection, spacing and visibility checks, which is where most survey jobs actually go wrong.

Does this process my images into a map?

No. The lab validates a dataset before processing. Turning the images into an orthomosaic, 3D model, point cloud or elevation model is what Aeroyantra Cloud does.
